Winterreise (the Winter’s Journey) is a song cycle by Franz Schubert. It was composed over two periods in his life, making a total of 24 songs. The ‘painting’ is also made up of a total of 24 images. Images 1 to 12 are separately framed and images 13 to 24 are presented as a single horizontal frame. The painting is a record of the journey to Dunkeld, Scotland, for my son’s wedding in the bitter winter of January 2010.
