Pike Howe 2013-2016 (9)
13 x 12 cm
Watercolour & ink on paper
Pike Howe is a small cairn on the edge of the Esk Valley overlooking the village of Castleton on the North York Moors. The initial sketches of the composition were completed looking at Pike Howe across flat moorland. There are 30 paintings in the series. As the series progressed from the initial paintings they became more and more detached from the original; number 30 having very little in common with number 1.
